The radio at the core of our readers, handheld and modules is an Impinj chip. Identix is a member of the Impinj Gold Partner Network. Around that chip, the design is ours.
Why start from an Impinj chip
Reading a tag is hard radio work: sending a clean signal and hearing a very weak reply. Impinj's chips are built for that job. Starting there lets us spend our time on what the customer sees: housings, firmware, connections and the way the device fits a project.
What changes between chip generations
Our product lines use different Impinj chips, from the E310 and E510 to the E710 on the high end. In general, the higher models read more tags per second and hear weaker replies. The datasheet of each product states its own figures.
Where the Identix work begins
The Impinj chip does the radio work: it decodes the tags and manages the air interface. Identix builds everything around it: the board, the enclosure, the antennas, the firmware and CONNECTIX, plus the certification and the integration that make the reader work in your operation. Features such as DRM and SJC come from the chip itself; on EZ series readers they are part of the design we ship.

It is Impinj's partner program. Identix is a member, which means we build products on their chips with their support.

Gen2X support depends on the chip family and the model. Check the datasheet of the reader you are considering, or write to us.
Are the readers certified for Brazil and the US?
Yes. All our readers, handhelds and modules are certified by FCC and Anatel.
