Know every linen set, cart and pallet, from the laundry to the room

Hotels and laundries move thousands of linen items a day, between rooms, carts, washers and storage. When a set goes missing or a cart is short, the cost shows up as guest complaints and extra purchases. RAIN RFID tags on linen and carts let the counts happen on their own, at the speed of the flow.

What makes linen hard to control

Items that look the same

Sheets, towels and duvet covers of the same model get mixed between floors and between laundry batches, and nobody knows which room they came from.

Carts and pallets that leave the floor

Housekeeping carts and linen pallets travel between floors, the laundry and the storeroom. Without a count at each door, the shortfall only shows up at the next service.

Counts done by hand, every shift

Manual counts take hours, interrupt the work and are rarely exact. Managers make purchase decisions on numbers that are already out of date.

Four places where it pays off

  1. 1

    Linen out of the room

Tagged linen is read when it leaves the room, so each set is linked to the floor and the room it came from.

  2. 2

    Washing and drying batches

A reader at the washer loading point confirms each batch, so missing items are caught before they are sent back to the floors.

  3. 3

Carts and pallets at the dock door

A portal at the storeroom door counts the carts and pallets that go in and out, without anyone stopping to scan.

  4. 4

    Stock by floor, on demand

Managers see how much linen each floor has in use, in the laundry and in storage, and plan purchases with real numbers.

What you gain

Fewer lost sets

Missing items are spotted at the next checkpoint, not at the next guest complaint.

Counts without stopping work

The reads happen while carts and linen move, so the team keeps working at its normal pace.

Purchases based on real stock

Managers buy the linen they need for each floor, instead of buying more to cover losses they cannot see.

Questions we hear

Do the tags survive industrial laundry?

Laundry-grade tags are sold by specialist suppliers, and the choice depends on the wash cycle and the textile. Identix does not sell tags: we help you pick the reader and antennas, and recommend testing with your real linen before installing.

Can it count linen that is still in the room?

The readers count tags within their read range, so the set is counted when it passes a reader. Inside a room, a handheld can run a count on the spot.
